For the SOUP Project, ECODIT is providing support to USAID for the roll-out and application of the Agency's Urban Policy and providing results-oriented products to support learning, dissemination and knowledge management related to urban programming. The Project's activities and achievements include:- Organizing and conducting the “Integration and Evidence for Urban Programming” workshop for USAID Mission- and Washington-based personnel;-Preparing a meta-evaluation that included a scan and categorization of USAID urban programs formally evaluated from 2005 to 2015;- Developing “Urban Resilience Planning for Secondary African Cities – A Case Study of Mozambique,” documenting several findings from USAID’s Mozambique Coastal City Adaptation Project (CCAP) that could assist USAID Bureaus and Missions designing urban projects in respective coastal regions;-Designing and developing the UrbanLinks knowledge platform to improve the management of knowledge in the urban sphere;-Developing a Communications and Outreach Plan that establishes the communications strategies, messages, tactics and metrics to promote greater awareness of urban issues and demonstrate the urban sector’s specific relevance to and benefits for other sectors and programs.-Establishing and unveiling a new Twitter handle (@USAIDUrban), initially to support USAID’s efforts at the Habitat III conference, and subsequently to drive traffic to the UrbanLinks website, promote urban events and resources, and generally affirm USAID’s presence as a thought leader in sustainable urban development;-Producing photo essays featuring USAID’s “BE SECURE” project in the Philippines, a blog for USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator (DAS) for the E3 Bureau, Carrie Thompson, entitled “Looking Beyond Quito — The U.S. Agency for International Development and the New Urban Agenda”, and infographics on Urbanization, Urban Finance and other topics;-Developing digital templates for the new monthly UrbanLinks newsletter, a series called “Urban Champion,” regular articles featuring individuals advancing USAID’s urban programming goals, and a bi-weekly media scan featuring recent articles and publications relevant to urbanization;-Supporting USAID in relaunching its popular Urban Speakers Series by convening a panel discussion on Financing Urban Infrastructure;-Preparing a Gender Analysis that establishes objectives and actions for SOUP Project activities to use an urban programming lens to identify where interventions and outcomes might affect men and women differently and where attention must be paid in programming to achieve equitable urban development goals for both sexes;-Preparing a template for a series of Country Urban Profiles (CUPs) with excel-generated tables and graphs and free/open source, readily-available maps for USAID’s prioritized countries based on high levels of future urban services;and -Responding to USAID’s request to conduct an assessment for the Bosnia Herzegovina (BiH) Mission to prioritize potential sectors/areas for assistance focusing on sustainable energy in selected urban areas in BiH.
