ECODIT was the overall Technical Leader in a joint venture that implemented the WRS Activity aimed at improving water resources management and policies and addressing pollution problems by studying, designing and implementing three pilot projects: (1) wastewater treatment and reuse in Drarga (near Agadir), (2) prevention of pollution from tanneries in Fès, and (3) soil and water conservation in the Nakhla watershed (Rif region). ECODIT provided overall technical leadership for the performance of the technical requirements” of the activity, including providing the technical project supervisor.ECODIT assisted the Department of Environment and its numerous partners at the national and local levels by providing training, evaluation, and technical assistance in the areas of water policies and technologies, community participation, and cost recovery.  ECODIT organized several participatory workshops, training seminars and evaluation roundtables to raise public awareness and create project ownership, train beneficiaries in cost-benefit analysis, disseminate wastewater treatment and reuse technologies and policies, etc.  ECODIT also organized a study tour in the United States to meet key U.S. stakeholders (government agencies, plant operators, farmers, tanners) in charge of developing and implementing water technologies and policies.Finally, ECODIT prepared an environmental assessment of each of the pilot projects in accordance with the environmental requirements of USAID (CFR 216) as well as the Moroccan Department of Environment.
